How to Choose Which Oil You Need
There is a very long list of essential oils found in the market today. And though not every oil claims to do everything or tries to steal the fame of another essential oil, it remains rather confusing to settle on which oil, or oils, are good for you, depending on your needs. Especially taking note of the fact that one single person may have numerous needs and may be searching for a single oil that satisfies every need.
Because this can be so puzzling, we figured that it may be helpful to create a list that easily tells you which essential oil benefits the different needs that there are. Some may be obvious to some, like lavender is known to be a good
stress reliever and that peppermint boosts your energy. But for some of the less obvious ones, please see the list below and with any luck, you’ll know exactly what oil you want depending on what benefits you’re looking for.
The Long List of Essential Oils
Bergamot
This citrus based essential oil that is extracted from the Citrus Bergamot tree which is from Southeast Asia is popularly used in perfumes and is known to treat stress and anxiety as well as helps with depression as well as a number of infections like psoriasis and eczema. Bergamot can also be found in Italy and is extracted by pressing the oil from the rind of the fruit. Some people use it as an incense and can also be used as a vaporizer. Others dilute it in water for a bath whereas others blend it in with other essential oils.

Cedarwood
Hailing from North America, this woody scented essential oil has been used for thousands of years and may in fact be the first ever essential oil that was ever extracted. The way to use Cedarwood is to distill it in steam. When used for aromatherapy, the oil will appear yellow in color and can be administered through the vapor that a person can then inhale.
It is best used for
relieving stress and anxiety as it gives the user a spiritual high of sorts. Some people use cedarwood to treat urinary infections as well. Use cedarwood carefully as when applied to the skin, may cause irritation and cedarwood should not be used during pregnancy.
Chamomile
Chamomile is definitely one of the more popular essential oils as this extract is very often used for drinking tea. Though chamomile comes from two different plants, the Roman Chamomile and the German Chamomile, they have healing properties that are somewhat different from each other. Both can be blended into
massage oils and used with aromatherapy or made into a lotion or cream, but it is only the Roman Chamomile that is sometimes used as a mouthwash.
Chamomile is also used for calming people but also works as an antibiotic and antiseptic. Some use chamomile to treat depression as it is known to boost your mood. Chamomile however should also be avoided by women who are pregnant.
Eucalyptus
Hailing from Australia, the Eucalyptus tree produces the Eucalyptus oil and this strong scent is practically recognizable by the entire world as it is such a popular essential oil. Eucalyptus is used for treating respiratory diseases and will also make your concentration skills much stronger. Eucalyptus is also often used as a diuretic and stimulant and have been found to treat migraines and fevers, while relieving aches and pains.
Unfortunately, women who are pregnant and people who suffer from epilepsy should steer clear from eucalyptus oil. Also, important to note is that you can die if you ingest large amounts of eucalyptus oil.
Jasmine
Jasmine is known as the expensive essential oil that contains powerful healing properties that have helped people with a wide range of needs. From childbirth to depression, jasmine has been known to be a helpful oil used for treatment as a result of its ability to relax you.
Jasmine has further established itself as a means to increase libido and is great for treating respiratory problems. It has also been used to treat addiction while it also helps you rid yourself of stress, tension, and anxiety.
Lavender
Like the eucalyptus, jasmine is another very popular essential oil and it is for great reasons. Lavender smells wonderful and is best known for being a stress reliever. It also has healing properties within it that are often used for treating the common cold, cough, and headaches too.
The therapeutic properties of lavender include it being an antiseptic, an anti-depressant, an anti-inflammatory decongestant, a deodorant and a sedative. In cases where people find that they have allergic reactions to lavender, it is best to stop using it.
Lemon
Lemon comes from Citrus Limonin and is a beautiful fragrance to have around due to its wonderful fresh scent. All one needs to enhance their energy would be a few drops of lemon oil and even their immune system would be lifted up. It has a very clean smell and has been known to aid digestion and arthritis.
The lemon has also treated digestion and is an immunity builder and when rubbed on your skin has even reduced cellulite. Lemon has also been known to cure a migraine as well as a fever. Many people use lemons to help

While it is true that there are tons of different essential oils and that each of them offer wonderful solutions to numerous problems, it is still best to do your research in order to be sure that you are using these essential oils to the best of their abilities. What one can offer you is not necessarily what the next essential oil can offer you. Meanwhile, as seen above, there are some essential oils as well that do offer some of the same treatments so if the oil you are looking for is to treat a number of illnesses or problems such as
migraines, then simply find the essential oil at a market near you in order to begin soothing your troubles with wonderful aromas in the air and drops in your bath. It sure is a wonderful thing to treat an illness with the beauty that is an extract from a tree or plant.
